The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Milagres College, Hampankatta, Mangalore, in association with the IQAC , organized an impactful Anti-Drug Awareness Programme on 11- 08-2025 to sensitize students about the growing menace of drug abuse among youth. The main highlight of the event was a street play performed by the Rangachalana Theater Group, Mangalore. The play conveyed a strong message on the dangers of drug addiction, highlighting its devastating effects on individuals, families, and society. Through engaging dialogues and emotional scenes, the performers encouraged students to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
Following the performance, Rev Dr Alwin serrao Principal, addressed the gathering. He spoke in detail about the evil effects of drug consumption, stressing on its long-term consequences on both mental and physical health, the breakdown of family life, and the importance of making informed and responsible choices.
The formal programme began with a welcome address by Mr. Joel Mascarenhas, NSS Officer. The event was compered by Mr. Rashwan Pinto, I BBA, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Naveen Pinto, I BBA.
The programme witnessed the active participation of 50 NSS volunteers, 46 students, and 5 faculty members, who responded enthusiastically to the initiative.
This event served as a meaningful platform to create awareness among young minds about the critical issue of drug abuse through the effective medium of art, culture, and community engagement.
