The Department of Food Nutrition and Dietetics of Milagres College, in collaboration with IQAC,
organized a guest lecture on Beat Breast Cancer-The Secrets Unraveled on 08 August 2025 in the college
auditorium at 10:00 AM. The program aimed at the main objective to spread awareness about breast
cancer and its prevention. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Rohan Chandra Gatty, Surgical Oncologist
and Director at the Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO) Hospital. The program was graced by Rev. Dr.
Alwin Serrao, Principal, Mrs. Prathibha D’Souza, HOD, B.Sc. FND, and Mrs. Harsha, Women Cell Co-
ordinator, who were present on the dais.
The resource person explained the symptoms, steps of self-examination for early detection, available
treatments, and precautionary methods. The session was highly informative and useful.
A total of 203 students actively participated in this guest lecture. Ms. Princel (I B.Sc. FND) extended a
warm welcome to the gathering, while Ms. Shravani (III B.Sc. FND) efficiently compered the event. The
program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nibha (II B.Sc. FND), acknowledging the
contributions of all involved.
