The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Milagres College, Hampankatta, Mangalore, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and DKMS Foundation, organized a meaningful Blood Stem Cell Awareness and Registration Drive on 26th August 2025 at 10.30 am in the College Auditorium.
The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. Muna Shareef, III B.Sc FND, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and the resource person.
The Resource Person of the day was Ms. Saswati Dutta, Assistant Manager, Donor
Recruitment, DKMS Foundation. In her session, she enlightened the gathering on the
significance of stem cell donation in saving lives, the process of donor registration, and the urgent need for young people to come forward to support patients suffering from blood cancer and other life-threatening blood disorders.
The programme was compered by Ms. Mizna Sulthana, II B.Com, who conducted the
proceedings efficiently. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Joel Merwin Mascarenhas, NSS Programme Officer, who expressed gratitude to the DKMS Foundation, college management, faculty, students, and volunteers for their active support.
The initiative witnessed overwhelming participation, with 120 students and staff registering as stem cell donors. This remarkable response highlighted the spirit of social responsibility and compassion among the youth of Milagres College.
The programme successfully created awareness about the life-saving potential of stem cell donation and encouraged students to take a proactive role in contributing to society.
