The Department of Hospitality Science, Milagres College, Hampankatta, Mangaluru successfully organised “Hanjeongsik – A Traditional Full-Course Korean Meal”, a Fusion Korean Theme Dinner, on 29th and 30th October 2025 at the 5th Floor Rooftop Auditorium from 6:30 PM onwards.
The event was held to provide students with practical exposure to international cuisine, event planning, food production, food and beverage service operations, and hospitality management. The theme dinner was designed to familiarise students with Korean gastronomy, dining etiquette, décor, and cultural presentation while integrating theoretical knowledge with practical execution.
The ambience of the venue was transformed into a Korean-inspired dining space, featuring thematic décor, visual elements, music, lighting, and artistic displays that enhanced the guest experience. Students actively participated in planning, organising, food preparation, service, guest handling, and entertainment activities under the guidance of faculty members.
The specially curated Korean fusion menu included:
- TtalgI Uyu – Strawberry Milk Shake
- Yangnyeom-Chikin – Korean Fried Chicken
- Dakgaejang – Spicy Chicken Soup with Scallions
- Hatdogeu – Korean Hotdog
- Morkovcha – Korean Carrot Salad
- Bibim Guksu – Korean Cold Noodle Salad
- Bibimbap – Korean Mixed Rice Bowl
- Yakgwa / Aisukurimu – Honey Cookies with Ice Cream
The event witnessed an overwhelming response from faculty members, students, alumni, guests, and the general public. A total of 600 pax were served during the two-day event. The program was highly appreciated for its authentic presentation, food quality, hospitality standards, and overall coordination.
The event was coordinated efficiently by the faculty heads and student leaders. The major responsibilities were divided among kitchen operations, food and beverage service, front office management, décor, entertainment, and event coordination, enabling students to gain hands-on industry-oriented experience.
The program successfully achieved its intended learning outcomes by enhancing students’ practical knowledge in culinary arts, international cuisine, teamwork, leadership, communication, guest relations, and event management. The theme dinner also promoted creativity, coordination, discipline, and professional hospitality standards among students.
