Milagres College, Mangalore organized an Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration on 15th April 2026 at the First Floor
Auditorium to honor the life and contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and to promote values of equality and social
justice among students.
The program was presided over by Rev. Dr. Alwin Serrao, Principal of Milagres College. The resource person for
the event was Lt. Denzil Edrod Pinto.
The event was organized by NSS in association with IQAC. The program was coordinated by Mr. Joel
Mascarenhas, NSS Officer, and Ms. Preemal Riya Crasta, Special Event Coordinator.
The program began with a welcome address by Mr. Joel Mascarenhas and was hosted by Ms. Vanya (I B.Com) as
the Master of Ceremonies. As a mark of respect, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The resource person, Lt. Denzil Edrod Pinto, spoke about the life, achievements, and vision of Dr. Ambedkar,
emphasizing the importance of education, equality, and constitutional values. In his presidential address, Rev. Dr.
Alwin Serrao highlighted the relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s principles in today’s society and encouraged students
to uphold justice, equality, and unity.
Around 100 students participated in the program. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Hannath (II
BCA AI).
The celebration was a meaningful event that inspired students to reflect on the values of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and
reinforced the importance of equality, dignity, and social harmony.
