Milagres College, Mangalore organized a Basava Jayanti Celebration on 23rd April 2026 at the First Floor
Auditorium to commemorate the life and teachings of Jagadguru Basavanna and to promote the values of equality,
social reform, and ethical living among students.
The program was organized in collaboration with Kannada Sangha. The resource person for the event was Mrs.
Mamatha Shetty.
The program was coordinated by Ms. Preemal Riya Crasta, Special Event Coordinator.
The program began with a prayer, followed by a welcome address by the Special Event Coordinator, who
welcomed the resource person and students. As a mark of respect, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of
Jagadguru Basavanna.
The resource person, Mrs. Mamatha Shetty, delivered an insightful speech on the life, philosophy, and social
reforms of Basavanna, emphasizing the importance of equality, simplicity, and moral values in society.
Around 70 students participated in the program. The event was compered by Ms. Raksha (I BBA) and concluded
with a vote of thanks by Ms. Saniya (II BCA).
The celebration was a meaningful event that inspired students to reflect on the teachings of Basavanna and
reinforced the importance of unity, equality, and ethical living.
