The Department of Hospitality Science, in collaboration with the Hospitality Association and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a Mixology Workshop on the occasion of World Bartenders’ Day on 24th February 2026 at Milagres College, Hampankatta. The workshop was conducted at Room no 401with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to professional bartending and beverage preparation techniques. The programme commenced with a formal inaugural session. The welcome address was delivered by Mr.Denzil Dcosta, Head of the Department, highlighting the relevance of mixology and bartending skills in the hospitality industry. As part of the formal function, sparkling wine was ceremoniously popped by the chief guest, marking the celebration of World Bartenders’ Day. Rev. Fr. Dr. Alwin Serrao, Principal and Campus Director, presided over the programme and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of skill-based learning and industry exposure in hospitality education.The workshop was conducted by eminent industry professionals Mr. Akash Kottary, Assistant Bar Manager,Soma,London, and Mr. Yathish Kumar Vasanth, Head Bartender, The Racketeer. The resource persons shared their professional experience and conducted an interactive session covering mocktail and cocktail preparation, handling of bar tools, hygiene and safety practices, flavour balancing, and innovative presentation techniques. The workshop encouraged hands-on participation and active student interaction. A total of 66 students participated in the workshop and benefited from the practical demonstrations and expert guidance provided by the resource persons. The programme was compered by Mr. Floyd Pinto, Student, ensuring smooth coordination of the session. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Roshan Coelho, Faculty,acknowledging the efforts of the resource persons, organizers, and participants. Overall, the Mixology Workshop was informative and successful, contributing significantly to experiential learning and skill development among students. The programme aligned with NAAC objectives by promoting hands-on learning, industry interaction, and quality enhancement in higher education.
