The Youth Red Cross Unit of Milagres College celebrated “World Hearing Day” on 4th February 2026. The primary objective of celebrating World Hearing Day was to enlighten students about the importance of protecting their ears from excessive noise and to create awareness regarding good ear-care practices among degree students. Five YRC volunteers from Milagres College participated in the World Hearing Day awareness and check-up programme organized at St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore. The participating volunteers were: Sagar – II B.Sc. FND, Sinchana – I B.Sc. FND, Krithik Kulal – I B.Sc. FND,
Mohammad Shad – I BCA, and Sonal Monteiro – II BCA AI. At college level, World Hearing Day was celebrated by spreading awareness through informative video shared in student groups and by making brief presentations in classrooms. The programme focused on educating students about ear hygiene and the harmful effects of excessive noise, including the overuse of loudspeakers and earphones, which can damage the eardrum and affect hearing health.
