The Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of Milagres College celebrated “World Kidney Day” on 13th March 2026 from 3:50 PM to 4:30 PM in Classroom 208 during the ECC hour. The objective of celebrating the day was to promote awareness among YRC volunteers and members of the college about kidney health and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices to protect kidney function.
The seminar was conducted by Mr. Clevan Deekshith Cordiero, a student of III B.Sc Food, Nutrition and Dietetics. He enlightened the audience by sharing valuable information on the topic titled “Healthy Kidneys for a Healthy Future.” He explained the physiology and functions of the kidneys, the process of urine formation, kidney stones, and the signs and symptoms associated with kidney stones. He also highlighted the importance of keeping the body well hydrated and discussed the effects of protein supplements on the kidneys, particularly creatine. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of following a healthy diet to maintain proper kidney function.
All the participants were enthusiastic and actively engaged in the session to gain knowledge. A total of 56 volunteers and members were present, including one staff member and the program officer. The program concluded with a vote of thanks to the speaker and the audience.
