The Youth Red Cross Unit of Milagres College organized an Orientation Program for Volunteers at the College Auditorium on 20th February 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. The primary objective of the program was to introduce newly enrolled volunteers to the Youth Red Cross’s vision, objectives, roles, responsibilities, and the benefits of active participation. The event began with a prayer song led by Ms. Sinchana, YRC Assistant Secretary. This was followed by a warm welcome with flowers to the resource person, Mrs. Gayatri N, Nodal Officer of Youth Red Cross, D.K. Rev. Fr. Dr. Alwin Serrao, Principal, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of kindness, compassion, and service to society. He encouraged students to imbibe humanitarian values and actively contribute to community welfare activities through the Youth Red Cross. Mrs. Gayatri N then delivered an enlightening and interactive session focusing on the objectives and significance of the Youth Red Cross. She elaborated on the core purpose of the organization, the
meaningful role volunteers play in society, and how active participation enhances personal growth, leadership skills, empathy, and civic responsibility. She also shared real-life examples and insights to motivate students to be socially committed and service-oriented. Ms. Shaila Moras, YRC Program Officer, provided updates on the planned activities for the academic year. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 60 volunteers, YRC members, and Student Council Committee members, reflecting the students’ interest in social service and community engagement.

The orientation program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Program Officer. As a token of gratitude, a memento was presented to Mrs. Gayatri N by Mrs. Chethana Acharya, IQAC Coordinator. The orientation successfully acquainted volunteers with the essence of Youth Red Cross activities, ignited their enthusiasm for social welfare, and laid a strong foundation for their active involvement in future initiatives.
