Gender Equity, Men Cell in association with IQAC organized a session on March 7, 2024, a Gender Equity Seminar “Process of Growth and Understanding the Male Body” was conducted in the college auditorium. Dr. Rithesh Joseph Dcunha, Consultant Anaesthesiologist, Father Muller Medical College, a distinguished expert in the field, served as the resource person for the session.
Session Overview:
Dr. Dcunha delivered an insightful presentation, elucidating the intricate process of growth and providing a nuanced understanding of the male body. The session aimed to foster awareness, dispel myths, and encourage a more informed and inclusive perspective on male development.
Rev Fr. Micheal Santhumayor, Principal, Mr. Aakash Shetty, Physical Education Director and program coordinator, Mr. Shanawaz, student coordinator were present on the dais. Mr. Denzil E Pinto, Genter Equity coordinator, 185 students actively participated in the session. Ameen Thalhath of Final year BCOM welcomed the resource person and the gathering. Rasheed of final BCOM proposed the Vote of Thanks.
The Gender Equity – Women’s Cell is created for the women of the college. It is a statutory cell that works for the betterment of women in the college. There are various activities taken up by the cell over the academic year.
The year began with an Instruction session for the female students of the college on October 27, 2023. Ms. Tressy Clita Pinto, Lecturer, Department of Commerce was the resource person. 149 students were present for the session..
A guest lecture on the topic ‘PCOS & Menstrual Hygiene’ for the female students of the college on October 27, 2023. Dr. Venita Roshal Fernandes, Asst. Prof, Department of OBG, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangalore was the resource person.
On the occasion of National Girl Child Day on January 24, 2024 an online quiz was conducted on this topic at 5pm using the Google form. 10 students took part in this quiz competition.
International Women’s Day was celebrated on March 07, 2024. Mrs. Marjorie Texeira, Former Bank Manager and Entrepreneur was the chief guest for the program.
A Mehendi competition for the female students of the college on April 22, 2024. A total of 10 students actively participated in the competition.
The Gender Equity – Women’s Cell in association with Cultural Association organised Naaree in Saree competition for the female students and staff of the college on April 27, 2024. Mrs. Shantha R Shetty, beautician and Ms Athira P were the judges for the student’s competition. A total of 47 girls actively participated in the competition.
The inaugural program of the Sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerator on May 31, 2024 at 3pm. Milagres College is an institution which has high concern about the female staff and students. With this background, South India Bank, Mangalore Branch under its CSR Fund had sponsored Sanitary Napkin vending machine and incinerator.
With a view to ensure quick dissemination of information and communication, the College has the facility of sending messages through SMS and App Services.
The College has a full-fledged spacious library with a stack of more than 7700 books and a reading room with E-Library and INFLIBNET facility.
The well equipped laboratories of the departments of Hospitality Science and Food, Nutrition and Dietetics serve as effective incubation centres of the College.
The College provides boarding and lodging facilities for the students from distant locations and for those who need accommodation in the College hostels.
The College pays special attention to the mental and spiritual wellbeing of our students. A full-time qualified counsellor is on roll to look after the mental and psychological health of the students.
Parent Teacher Association is a great source of strength to the College in improving the quality of discipline and students’ development.
