Preamble

Milagres College belongs to Mangalore University. The College offers Seven Under- Graduate programmes in BCOM, B.Sc HS, B.Sc FND, B.Sc IDD, BCA, BCA AIML, BBA Logistics. Further, it also runs UGC Career oriented courses. We also offer free Add on Certificate courses. Students rom different places like Abroad countries, Manipur, Mysore, Chikmangalore, Kerala etc. There are two separate hostels for Boys And Girls. Boys hostel is located exactly opposite to the College building and Girls hostel is located near Falnir, Mangalore. The internal administration and discipline of the hostel is vested in the warden who is assisted by the College Principal. The policies of the hostel are decided by the Members of the Policy. We require policies to maintain and run these hostels. Applications for admission to Hostel can be obtained from the College Office. The Principal has the final authority in deciding the admissions. Before actual admission to the Hostel, every applicant has to produce documentary evidences.

Introduction

Milagres College offers Hostel facility for students with the primary objective of instilling in every hosteller a spirit of bonhomie, self-confidence and self-discipline. Hostel accommodation, separately for men and women, will be provided by the College solely based on availability. The guiding principle towards the formulation of the Hostel Policy, Rules and Code of Conduct for Hostellers is to ensure a secure and comfortable environment which is conducive to learning, and, all hostellers are required to strictly abide by the same

Implementation of the Policy

  • We have got two hostels for Boys and Girls. Boy’s hostel is located exactly opposite to the College building and Girls hostel is located near Falnir, Mangalore.
  • There are Three types of room’s available i.e. Special rooms, Semi special and Dormitory (Common rooms). Maintenance fee varies on the basis selection.
  • Food is same for everybody and it is outsourced with the same rate. It includes morning breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks in the evening, supper.

Admission Process

  • Admission to the hostel is a yearly policy not permanent.
  • During the Course admission students are made aware of the admissions of hostel.
  • Made aware of all the rules and regulations.
  • Undertakings are taken by the students and parents.
  • Indiscipline if found or not following rules and regulations such students are warned/ or given notice and informed parents and dismissed from the hostel and not from the College, maintenance charges of such students will not be returned back.
  • Maintenance charges for per year, even if student leaves in between no refund will be done.
  • If student goes home during holidays for a vacation with official notice of the Principal and in case of long term sickness the food cost will be reduced from the monthly mess bill.
  • If a student goes home in between or doesn’t take food for a week should have to pay the mess fee as usual, and if a student is away from the hostel more than 7 days with written permission his/ her mess cost will be reduced.
  • Students of girl’s hostel cannot go anybody’s house or relative’s house without the written permission of the parents.
  • Purpose of having hostel is for study and for proper stay.
  • Annual day, hostel day, farewell day and picnics are organized.

General Rules and Regulations of the Hostel for Boys/Girl

  • While joining the Hostel, the things that candidate needs to bring are: Mattress, Mosquito net, Bucket, Mug, Plate, cup, spoons, A lock to lock one's suitcase.
  • All must be in by 5.30 p.m. and must begin the study at 6.30 p.m. on class days. On Sundays and holidays all must be in by 6.00 pm and begin the study at 6.30 pm
  • Lights off and go to bed by 11.00p.m.
  • Fees once paid will not be reimbursed under any circumstances
  • Hostel day expenses are shared equally by all
  • Those who destroy/damage hostel property, furniture etc. will have to bear the amount to replace the damaged Hostel property, and if done intentionally will be sent out of the Hostel.
  • Those who constantly get involved in conflicts and are a source of disturbance to other hostelites will be sent out without giving any reason.
  • Warden's permission is to be obtained for overnight stay outside the hostel after the warden being called by the parent/guardian
  • Going home on class days requires Principal's prior permission
  • No hostelites are permitted to go out of the campus without the permission of hostel warden.
  • On Sundays and holidays students may go out from 3.00 pm to 5:00 pm after making entry in the entry and exit register. With wardens permission hostelites can go out leaving behind their address and phone number of the person whom they visit
  • Occasional horne visits are at the discretion of the warden
  • In the Hostel study time is sacres. Hence perfect silence should be maintained in the study hall
  • Cleanliness of the room, toilets and common places should be kept up
  • Parents and relatives are allowed to visit students 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 pm. on week days between 3.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. on Sundays and Holidays.
  • Under no protest can an outsider visit the rooms of the hostelites.
  • No one is allowed to bring outsiders to the mess for meals.
  • No picnics/excursions should be arranged by the hostelites.
  • Admission to the hostel is at your own risk. Hostel management does not take any responsibility in any way
  • Ragging is a major criminal offence. Those who indulge in ragging or encourage others to do so will immediately dismissed
  • The electricity, water, maintenance charges and one month advance mess bill has to be paid on admission
  • Monthly bills are collected in the first week of each month; delayed payments incur a fine of Rs 50 per day (from 6 th onwards)
  • Payments of bills may be made in cash or by DD drawn in favour of ‘Director’. Milagres Ladies' Hostel (Cheques are not accepted)
  • Leave the toilets and bathing rooms as clean as you would like to see them.
  • Warden will regulate TV tunings
  • In emergencies can call to college phone number 0824-2423822
  • All are expected to use water sparingly.
  • Mobiles are discouraged in the hostel. If anybody wishes to have mobiles should get written permission from Principal.
  • Using the mobile phones during the study time is strictly prohibited. If it is found using during study hours it will be confiscated and will not be returned.
  • Mobiles cannot be used after 10.30p.m.
  • No complaints will be entertained regarding the mobiles, money and other valuables
  • Key of the Cupboards has to be submitted to the hostel warden during the mid-term holidays and at the end of Academic year. If key is not submitted hall ticket of the examination will not be issued.
  • If hostel cannot provide food for specific reason in such case mess bill will be reduced for those days.
  • During the revision holidays no food will be served if there are no minimum numbers of students. The amount which is paid in advance for mess will be adjusted for next month
  • Maintenance fees it fixed and compulsory and no refund.
  • If the students are failed to follow the above rules the strict action will be taken.

Please Note

  • During study there should be total silence in the house, no visitors, and no phone calls on landline/mobile.
  • We encourage religiosity/devotion/prayer among hostelites. Hence time is set aside for prayer. Catholics are encouraged to go for daily mass and say the rosary, read the Word of God daily

SMS & APP SERVICE

With a view to ensure quick dissemination of information and communication, the College has the facility of sending messages through SMS and App Services.

LIBRARY/READING ROOM

The College has a full-fledged spacious library with a stack of more than 7700 books and a reading room with E-Library and INFLIBNET facility.

LAB FACILITIES

The well equipped laboratories of the departments of Hospitality Science and Food, Nutrition and Dietetics serve as effective incubation centres of the College.

HOSTEL

The College provides boarding and lodging facilities for the students from distant locations and for those who need accommodation in the College hostels.

MENTORING & COUNSELLING

The College pays special attention to the mental and spiritual wellbeing of our students. A full-time qualified counsellor is on roll to look after the mental and psychological health of the students.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION

Parent Teacher Association is a great source of strength to the College in improving the quality of discipline and students’ development.
