Start-up cell- Launchpad innovations'- This is a program arranged by the Milagres College as part of MOU, for the students of Hospitality Science, Interior Design, BCA, BCA-AI, FoodScience, Bcom and BBA logistics. This program was inaugurated on 5/12/2023 at 10:30am in their respective classes.The dignitaries present were, Mr. Vishwas, US Director of Section Infin-8, Mr. Karthik Attavar, CEO- Section Infin-8, Mr. Arjun Rao COO- Section Infin-8, Ms. PrekshaThej, CSO- Section Infin-8, Ms. Miya, Social media coordinator, Rev. Fr. Micheal Santhumayor, Principal Milagres Degree college, HOD of all the departments. Fr. Micheal Santhumayor welcomed the gathering and introduced the dignitaries to the students.
The team of start-up cell, shortly introduced themselves and then gave a very informative session on how to launch the start-up ideas, what are the current market trends and gave information about the famous existing start-ups, schemes available from the government, what are the challenges that usually take place at the time of launching new start-ups, etc. The students were very attentive and the session was very interactive as the students also clarified their doubts and gave a thought about the start-ups. A total of 620 students were present in the session. The program ended with innovative ideas and lectures thanked the dignitaries for their presence and motivation.
On June 12, 2024, Milagres Degree College in Mangaluru hosted the inauguration of Milagrean Beauty Corner through the Milagres start-up cell. Every Saturday, students received training for this course, and those who showed interest were chosen to assist clients. Not only was this beauty salon accessible to college employees and students, but visitors may also make use of it.Facilities offered by this beauty parlour include eyebrow waxing, facial hair cutting, waxing, nail polish, hair colouring, head massages, mehandi and more. Trained students were permitted to practise on Milagres College staff members in order to improve results.
There was also another product called Mila Bliss that was made by Milagres College students. This chemical, called soap oil, is useful for numerous tasks like washing cars and cleaning floors. Out of the 80 bottles, the students sold 76 of them and made money. One-litre bottles cost Rs. 75, and half-liter bottles cost Rs. 50.
Every Saturday, 50 students who were chosen for the cell participate in a training session in addition to the college's plans to generate such ideas. The training session is generating a great deal of interest and activity from the students.
With a view to ensure quick dissemination of information and communication, the College has the facility of sending messages through SMS and App Services.
The College has a full-fledged spacious library with a stack of more than 7700 books and a reading room with E-Library and INFLIBNET facility.
The well equipped laboratories of the departments of Hospitality Science and Food, Nutrition and Dietetics serve as effective incubation centres of the College.
The College provides boarding and lodging facilities for the students from distant locations and for those who need accommodation in the College hostels.
The College pays special attention to the mental and spiritual wellbeing of our students. A full-time qualified counsellor is on roll to look after the mental and psychological health of the students.
Parent Teacher Association is a great source of strength to the College in improving the quality of discipline and students’ development.
