Independence Day Celebration

Milagres College, celebrated India's 78th Independence Day on August 15, 2024, on the institutional ground. Mr. Joachim Stany Alvares president, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy was the chief guest. Rev. Dr. Michael L. Santhumayor, the Principal, presided over the function. Mr. Melwin Vas, the Principal of the PU Section, and Rev. Fr. Udaya Fernandes, the Principal of the Milagres Central School Section, were present on the dais. The event commenced with flag hoisting by the chief guest, Mr. Joachim Stany Alvares, President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy. In his address, he urged students to uphold the values and hard work of the nation's forefathers. The college principal, Rev. Dr. Michael L. Santhumayor, stressed the importance of unity and the role of youth in nation-building. Various patriotic programs, including speech, dance, and songs, were performed by students, reflecting their love for the country. Mrs. Anitha Lobo, lecturer at the Pre-University College, welcomed the gathering. Ms.Reshma K.M teacher at MCS, delivered the vote of thanks, and Ms. Tressy Pinto, lecturer in the Degree section, compered the program. The celebration concluded with a cleanliness drive at Hampankatta, demonstrating the college's commitment to social responsibility. 600 students of the degree section were present for the celebration. The event was marked by a strong sense of patriotism and community spirit, reinforcing the importance of Independence Day in uniting the nation and encouraging students to contribute positively to society.
