The Eco and Life Science Club at Milagres College inaugurated green initiative, "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," on September 27, 2024, during the EC/CC hour from 3:50 PM to 4:30 PM . The event was attended by 400 students. Mr. Rajesh Baligar, Range Forest Officer of Mangalore Division, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Joining him on the dais were Rev. Dr. Fr. Michael L Santhumayor, the Principal, Mrs. Chethana Acharya, the IQAC Coordinator, and Shaila Moras, the In-charge of the Eco and Life Science Club. The primary goal of the initiative was to raise awareness about forest conservation and sustainability. The inauguration ceremony began symbolically with the planting of a sapling by the dignitaries and student representatives. Mr. Rajesh Baligar delivered an motivational address, highlighting the importance of forest conservation and the significant role students can play in protecting forests. Out of 50 plants, 40were distributed to students and staff while 10 were planted on the college campus. The significance of "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" was beautifully captured in a performance by the college choir . Ms. Nishmitha of I FND proposed the vote of thanks, and Ms. Krishnaveni Deshpande of II FND, Secretary of the Eco and Life Science Club, served as the emcee for the program.
