The newly established Nursing College under Milagres Educational Institutions in Mangaluru and the cultural fest “Avishkar 2024” were inaugurated on Saturday, November 30, on the college premises.Speaking at the event, the Chief Guest, Professor U.T. Iftikhar Fareed, National Commission Chairman, Allied and Healthcare Council Karnataka, Syndicate Member of RGUHS, commended the efforts of Milagres Educational Institutions. He highlighted that nursing is a noble profession and one of the most sought-after fields in the job market. “Nursing is not just a profession; it is a service to society. It provides care to patients in need and brings about a significant transformation in their lives and the lives of their families,” he remarked. The event was presided over by the Bishop of the Mangalore Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha. In his presidential address and prayer, he expressed his good wishes for the institution. He emphasized that nursing is a highly respected profession, offering care with compassion and restoring health to the suffering. “With a deep sense of social responsibility, Milagres Institution has initiated this Nursing College,” he added. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries such as Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho, Rev. Fr. Faustine L Lobo, Mr. Ajit Lobo, Mr. Alexander Maxim Monteiro, Sr. Dr. Jeevitha M.D., Dr. Sujay, CA Nithin J. Shetty, Mr.Sylvester Mascarenhas, Mrs. Jacinta Fernandes, Mrs.Sangeeta Fernandes, Dr. Veena G. Tauro, and Dr. Diana Lobo, along with members of the governing body. The cultural fest featured a variety of events, including a traditional dress display by Milagres College students, a baby show for children , games like Housie Housie, a Christmas star competition, and contests showcasing traditional Indian attire. Attractive prizes were awarded to the winners of these competitions. The students also performed a range of vibrant culturalprograms as part of the festivities. The program began with a warm welcome by Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Nazareth, the Director ofMilagres Institutions. The Principal of Milagres College, Rev. Fr. Dr. Michael Santhumayor, delivered the vote of thanks, while Lecturer Shravya N. efficiently hosted the event.
